Last night's Dyslexia CPD with Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance

Thank you to all the teachers who attended our Secondary CPD session last night and a huge thanks to Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance for putting on this session.

We had a fantastic turnout of people who attended the CPD evening at Archbishop Holgates School. The CPD session which was chosen by our teachers and support staff was a very popular and received excellent feedback.

The session which was on Dyslexia included the following things:

  • Looked at Meares-Irlen Syndrome (Visual Stress)

  • Looked at what dyslexia is

  • Looked at how dyslexic children see words on paper and how they struggle with typical things they are required to do in their daily school lives

  • Looked at different resources you could use to help aid dyslexic children including coloured overlays

  • Looked at the gifts dyslexic children have that are different to non-dyslexic children

  • Looked at how you can screen children for dyslexia and the common traits to look out for that may indicate they have dyslexia

We are very grateful to be working with Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance. This is a fantastic opportunity for our supply teachers to receive CPD that otherwise would not be available to them. We believe our teachers deserve the training that teachers employed permanently would benefit from.

We are already looking forward to the next CPD sessions which will be held in May. These will cover talk less teaching for Secondary and KS1 and KS2 writing for Primary. If you would like to know more information about the CPD sessions, or you would like to book onto them, please get in touch.
