CPD with Pathfinder TSA

Yorkshire Education are very grateful to be working with Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance at Archbishop Holgate’s School to provide our supply staff with relevant and bespoke CPD.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our supply teachers to receive CPD that otherwise would not be available to them. We believe our teachers deserve the training that teachers employed permanently would benefit from.

Please see below the sessions that have already taken part.

Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 Grammar

  • Highlighted key changes within the national curriculum regarding Grammar across y1-y6

  • Demonstrated excellent example material and resources that could be used on supply

  • Key topics that pupils consistently struggle with such as semi-colons, subordinate clauses & the subjunctive.

Behaviour for Learning

  • Why young people misbehave

  • Laying the foundations for good behaviour

  • How to make expectations, consistency & sanctions clear

  • How to work effectively with support staff

Maths Mastery

  • The Teaching for Mastery approach used in east & south-east Asian countries

  • Exploring and practicing key elements

  • Exploring some of the resources available for Teaching for Mastery

  • Gained a deeper understanding of Mastery: Factual, Procedural and Conceptual.


  • Looked at Meares-Irlen Syndrome (Visual Stress)

  • What is dyslexia?

  • How dyslexia children see works on paper and how they struggle with typical things they are required to do in their daily school lives

  • Looked at different resources you could use to help aid dyslexic children including coloured overlays

  • The gifts dyslexic children have that are different to non-dyslexic children

  • How you can screen children for dyslexia and common traits to look out for that may indicate dyslexia.
