Thank you to all the teachers who attended the CPD session last night and a huge thank to Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance for putting on this session.
The CPD evening which was held at Archbishop Holgates School was a great success. It was hugely engaging and received extremely positive feedback from all that attended.
The twilight session was on Anger, this included how children’s brains function differently to adults and reasons why children might experience anger. This covered how to spot the signs of poor mental health. Ideas were shared of how to help children channel their anger, for example, instead of punching a wall, to bang a drum or to scream into a pillow. The CPD also covered how important it is for children to look after their mental health as they would their physical health – diet, sleep and exercise being key contributing factors. They also looked at how important it is for children to have someone to listen to them and how something as small as a smile in the corridor can transform their day.
We are very grateful to be working with Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance. This is a fantastic opportunity for our supply teachers to receive CPD that otherwise would not be available to them. We believe our teachers deserve the training that teachers employed permanently would benefit from.
