Supply Teacher Guide - Find your perfect employment situation
Yorkshire Education is dedicated to helping you find your perfect employment situation, and it all starts by booking a short registration appointment at the office.
Once you are compliant with Yorkshire Education, you need to make sure you are ready to accept the bookings which come your way.
As Yorkshire Education has built up its foundations on the outstanding partnerships it has with local schools and nurseries, look at these tips to help you build up good relationships with the schools and nurseries you visit.
Be Ready – Bookings are taken from 7.00am Monday to Friday. If you have informed us that you are available, expect a call from us and be ready to leave as soon as possible.
Be Punctual - Allow plenty of time for your journey, aim to arrive half an hour before the start time of the booking. Please check the school times on your confirmation email which you will receive before each booking.
Lateness - If you are stuck in traffic on the way to a school or you are running late, please let us know so we can contact the school and make them aware.
Illness - If you are booked in for an assignment and you are ill or unable to work for any reason, please phone the office at 7.00am.
Availability - We send an availability email to all supply staff. Please reply with the days you can work for the following week. If your availability changes throughout the week, please let us know.
Commitment - If you have accepted a booking, please try to honour it. It is often difficult to find replacements at short notice.
Be Prepared - Teachers should ensure they have the necessary resources/ planning to take (including PE kit) for the relevant key stage. If you would like any resources or ideas, please contact us.
We want you to enjoy your time in schools or nurseries and build professional relationships, so you are asked back. We get regular bookings for long-term work and supply teaching is a good way to network with local schools.
