Receive regular Teaching Assistant work through Yorkshire Education

As the summer is approaching, many schools across Yorkshire are planning for the start of September and looking for teaching assistants and SEND teaching assistants for daily and short-term bookings as well as long term placements. This means it is a great time to register with Yorkshire Education, as we are always looking for experienced teaching assistants and have some fantastic positions available.

Teaching assistants play a key role in supporting the teacher with their daily classroom activities and make a valuable contribution to the educational support of children.

The teaching assistant role:

  • To support individual pupils with their learning in the classroom.

  • To support pupils with a variety of needs, learning, emotional, behavioural, or physical.

  • To liaise with the classroom teacher to deliver interventions for specific pupils.

  • Working with small groups of pupils.

  • Helping teachers in the classroom with group activities.

Opportunities for teaching assistants

Supply work provides teaching assistants with the opportunity to work in a variety of schools and offers a breadth of experience that wouldn’t be possible in a permanent job.

Experience in a classroom as a teaching assistant can lead to a range of opportunities to work within education. It is a great way to learn from experienced professionals and see first-hand how to manage and coordinate a classroom of children. If you are working in the secondary school sector, you may be allowed to take on the additional responsibility of cover supervisor.

A cover supervisor delivers set work to a class when the regular teacher is away and is a fantastic opportunity to discover if a full-time teaching role is right for you. Cover supervisor experience helps strengthen an application for starting a PGCE course and will provide you with lots to talk about at an interview.

Working as a teaching assistant, gives you many opportunities to specialise in specific areas, such as SEND. These are pupils with special educational needs or disabilities and will often involve working one to one. SEND covers a wide range of needs so increasing your experience will benefit you if you are looking to focus your skills in a specific area.

We believe our teaching assistants are among some of the best in Yorkshire and we would like to hear from teaching assistants who are:

  • Graduates

  • Experienced working in a primary, secondary or nursery setting

  • Hold a teaching assistant level 2, Level 3 or HLTA qualification

If you are a teaching assistant or a SEND teaching assistant with experience and you are interested in receiving regular opportunities for work, please contact us now as we would love to hear from you.
