Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: York

Salary: £88.92 to £100.00

Job Type: Full time

Start Date: 2 March 2026

We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual to join the team at a primary school located in York. This rewarding role involves working collaboratively with teaching staff, supporting pupils with diverse needs, and fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Helping to create a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Learning Activities

• Assist the teacher in delivering lessons.

• Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning.

  • Help prepare learning materials and resources.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support

• Provide tailored support to students with learning difficulties or disabilities.

• Implement strategies from Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

• Liaise with SENCOs and other professionals.

• Oversee students during lunch, playtime, or on school trips.

• Ensure safety and appropriate behaviour outside the classroom.

Requirements:

• A genuine passion for working with children.

• Friendly, reliable, and approachable with a positive attitude.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).

• Previous experience in a childcare or school setting is desirable but not essential.

• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
