We are currently supporting a welcoming and well-resourced primary school in Thirsk that is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their Key Stage 2 team on a full-time basis.
Role Overview
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with class teachers, lead whole-class learning when required, deliver small-group interventions, and contribute to the planning and assessment of pupils’ progress. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take on additional responsibility within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality learning support across KS2
Lead whole-class teaching in the teacher’s absence
Support planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities
Deliver targeted small-group interventions to raise attainment
Provide effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and senior leaders
Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
Requirements
HLTA status or equivalent qualification
Experience working across primary year groups (KS2 experience desirable)
Confident delivering whole-class teaching
Strong communication, organisation, and behaviour management skills
A proactive, positive, and flexible approach
Commitment to supporting pupils’ academic and emotional development
