The background....
Yorkshire Education was formed in March 2014 by our director Joe Butcher. After 6 years' sales and education recruitment experience Joe saw an opportunity to work with supply teaching in schools in York, and applied to a government run programme for funding. After working closely for months with a business mentor in York he developed an outstanding business plan and was awarded his start up loan.
Joe is a local lad from York, he went to school at Fulford and Pocklington and went on to study Sport and Exercise Science at Brunel University in London.
After University Joe travelled to Australia where he worked for the Appco group, an international sports marketing company where he developed funding schemes for companies including Brisbane Roar, Queensland Cricket, Cricket Australia and the Surf Life Savers charity. These experiences gave Joe the confidence to take the risk of setting up a business at such a young age.
Joe’s parents regularly offer sound advice to the company, coming from an education background, both teaching for the past 40 years in York as well as being on the interview panel for Hull York Medical School. They play a large part in the recruitment of Yorkshire Education’s supply teachers and couldn’t be better suited to identifying talent.
Yorkshire Education has hugely exceeded Joe’s expectations for his first year in business. He has developed incredibly strong relationships with a number of local secondary and primary schools for supply teaching and has always provided an excellent service. Take a look at our success stories.
Joe has ambitious plans for Yorkshire Education, and is hoping to open offices in Leeds and Hull within the next five years to run alongside the thriving York office. He looks forward to continuing to expand the company and build on the core values for supply teaching that he has established.
